Norsk Kultturråd Ny Teknologi og Komponistenes Vederlagsfond støtter “Soundscape Røst “

Wonderful news:

The Norwegian Arts Council, departmenet of New Technology, has granted me support for part 1 of my art project “Soundscape Røst”.  I am deeply greatful for the support. I have also received funding for making a record of the final result by Komoponistens Vederlagsfond.

I have therefore managed to complete part 3 and 4 of my fieldtrips to Røst as planned this summer. Samples of wonderfuland unique recordings from the inside of Puffins, Kittywake nest and Black Guillemot nests will be posted here shortly, unedited.

Pictures/visuals/ephemera, that I also will post samples of shortly, have been taken and collected by Carsten Aniksdal, Anja Høvik Strømsted and myself. Me and Jason Rosenberg are working on a major collage for the project. We received funding so late we couldn´t afford Jasons ticket to Røst, however Carsten Aniksdal and Anja Høvik Strømsted graciously stepped in and saved the fieldtrip! Thanks to both now official collabortaors of the project. Jason Rosenberg will arrive in Norway, August and we will carry on working on the project together.

Here are some pictures taken by artist Anja Høvik Strømsted from fieldtrip # 4 to Røst last weekend:

Bad news:

Another very bad season for Kittywakes, Puffins, Common Guillemot and other seabirds at Røst. The population of Puffins will decrease further as a result of no chick since the last successful breeding year of 2006. It´s so important to collect these sounds at Røst as the soundscape is changing rapidly due to this.
